What are the age groups?
The league is open to all players in 1st thru 8th grades.
- 1st and 2nd grades are in the Clinic Division
- 3rd/4th make up the younger division
- 5th-8th made up the older division
What is the 1st and 2nd grade clinic?
The clinic is meant to teach our youngest players the fundamentals of basketball in a fun environment. The goal is for the kids the learn how to play, then put what they have learned to use once they get the the 3rd/4th grade divisions. A typical clinic day will consist of drills to work on fundamental skills (ie. dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, etc.), competitions to bring out their competitive side, and games.
When does the 1st and 2nd grade clinic run?
The 1st and 2nd grade clinic will typically run on Saturdays from 8:30-9:30 at Fuggett MS, unless there is a time restraint at the gym in which case the time would be changed. There are no weekly practices for the 1st and 2nd grade clinic.
Where and when are practices and games?
All practices/games are played in West Chester School District schools. We have gym time at several different locations.
- Practices will take place one night a week for an hour on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night at 6:00, 7:00 or 8:00.
- Games for 3rd/4th grade division will typically take place on Saturdays at Fuggett MS between 9:00-4:00.
- Games for 5th-8th grades will typically take place on Sundays at Henderson HS between 11:00-4:00.

my daughter isn't able to practice one night of the week. Can she still play?
Yes. There is a place on the registration to note any specific conflicts. We take note of all of these and try our best to be accommodating by places players only on teams that they would be able to make the practice times.
If this is something that is known ahead of time, please note on the registration or let us know as soon as possible. It is very difficult to move players around once teams have been made.

Can my daughter be placed on a team with her friends?
We allow a section in the registration for requests. We CANNOT guarantee anything.
We try our best to stick by our policy of having no more than 3 girls from the same school on a team. We believe that playing with other girls will not only broaden the social aspect, but will strengthen the team component of the game having girls learn to play with others. This has also helped to create a more competitive atmosphere between teams when girls get to play people that they know.

Why wasn’t my daughter placed on the team we requested?
There are several reasons why a request was not or could not be fulfilled:
Please note that approximately 80% of our registrants make requests. It is impossible to make them all work.
- Your daughter's evaluated ranking. We create teams based on evaluated rankings as well as feedback from the previous year on returning players. This affects placement on teams. For instance, if someone was ranking in the top 10 of her division and she had made a request to be placed with another player ranked high, that is a more unlikely request. We try to balance teams as best as possible.
- Someone else may have requested your daughter.
- A coach requested your daughter. We allow coaches to have direct input in making their own requests.

We aren’t happy with the team selection. Can we switch teams?
It is VERY difficult to move people to different teams once they have been made. Teams are created using evaluated rankings first to try to balance out the entire league in an effort to make games more competitive. Then we take into consideration practice day conflicts. The last thing taken into account is requests.
Moving a player after she has been placed on the team will change not only her current team, but the new team’s average ranking. Not only this, but if the new team already has a full roster, we then need to ask players who’ve already been assigned a team, to move to a new team.
We try very hard to be accommodating, but cannot guarantee that we can make a move work.

Can my daughter play up/down?
Yes, pending evaluation we generally allow players to play up or down 1 grade level. We do not want anyone to play down who we think would dominate in the younger division. Nor do we want anyone to play up who would struggle playing in the older division.
Please note that the older division is 5th-8th grades, so we are very cautious about allowing 4th graders to play up given the large age difference.
If you would like to be considered to play up/down, please note this in the requests section of the registration.

Why are 5th graders and 8th graders in the same division?
The league originally had a separate division for 7th and 8th grade, but as numbers declined we made the decision to combine them. However, 7th and 8th graders typically only make up a small portion of the older division. The older division is primarily made up of 5th and 6th graders. We have not had any issues with this arrangement.
